4th of July Makeup

But cosmetics are easier to buy.”

The Process

Hello Beauties,

I’m sorry that my posting schedule is already off to a rough start. I have had some car issues, and I’m back to work and pursuing my passion! Whether or not you celebrate the 4th of July, this is an interesting look. I hope for constructive criticism and a dialogue in the comments about this look.

To get started, please don’t be intimidated by any “skills” you think you may or may not have. This look is do-able and can be done with less expensive products than what I used. I will be recommending products that could be replaced to accomplish the same result.

First, I used a First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream moisturizer to prep my skin. I would recommend this product because it is light on the skin while giving a deep hydration. Also, this company is geared towards people of all skin types, especially those with sensitive skin. This brand makes products with and without fragrance. If you are happy with your moisturizer, then use what works best with your skin.

Next, I used the Becca first light primer. A full size of this primer can cost $39. I do not think that is that ground-breaking to warrant that price. I did not notice any special properties that enhanced my skin beyond what primers usually perform. Personally, I like NYX primers because they work and range from color correcting, pore filling and more at a fraction of the cost.

I let my primer soak into my face while I do my eyebrows. I am still experimenting with eyebrows. As for myself, the process is still very time consuming and frustrating to have the perfect tail of the brow. I use pomade and the Anastasia Dipbrow gel to give the brow hairs more life. Use the Essence brow mascara, if you want to try it. They only have 3 shades, but it is $3. As for other brow products, NYX and maybelline both have reasonably priced brow related items.

Next, I used Smashbox eye shadow primer and apply a small amount on the tips of my index fingers to gently spread the product on my eyelids. Then, I applied the shades “Cherry Wet” and “Licorice” to the crease of my eye. After blending those colors out, I took my Tarte shape tape concealer on a small concealer brush to make a precise line that outlines the eye just below the crease, also known as a “cut the crease.” It can be difficult to find good reds, so another option would be to use a red liquid lipstick and the best red shadow to gently blend out to maintain that true red color.

For the next part, I used the NYX white eyeliner to outline the line I made with the concealer, just below the red. I took the same white eyeliner to draw out a small line from the outer corner of my eye for the wing. Then, I filled in the wing making the triangle back towards my lash line and toward the inner corner. I love this white eyeliner. I would not recommend another product to replace this. NYX white eyeliner is a game-changer and must-have.

I had to make the glitter by mixing the glitterally obsessed and soaked eye shadow from the Jawbreaker palette. I took the mixture and applied it to the base of my eye to get the final look.

The products below are, for the most part, written in the order that I used them.
