Winged eyeliner is not impossible. Here’s how…

“Makeup is not a mask that covers up your beauty; it’s a weapon that helps you express who you are from the inside.”Michelle Phan

Hello, Beauties

I’ve been very makeup invested this week. I made some purchases straight from E.l.f, which I will share with you at the end of this post. I’m very excited for the products to come before my formal dance at the end of April!

You do not need to buy expensive eyeliner to achieve this look!

Also, this will take some practice. I do not have steady hands, and I’ve found a way to make this work.

Many people see a look that requires winged eyeliner and think “How hard can it be?”
THEN, they find out that this style is a little harder than it looks.

I begin my signature look of winged eyeliner by applying whatever eye shadows that I desire for the full look, but you can also do wings with no eye shadow.

Then, I take a bottle of liquid liner and follow it across my top lash line, making sure to make it slightly taper from thick near the outer corner of my eye to thin in the inner corner of my eye. It is important to let the eyeliner dry for a few seconds before doing my next step, or else you increase your chances of spearing black eyeliner on your already perfectly placed shadow. After that, I take an eyeliner marker and run it along that line to blend and not being a harsh line.

My approach to making my wings is by following the bottom lash line out to line up at about a little less that the length of the tip of my eyebrow with the liquid liner. I use the tip very delicately to trace from the tip of the lash down at an angle to meet the thick part of the liner at the top outer edge of my eye.

All that’s needed next is to fill it in!

Keep a makeup wipe handy for the first few times. Some days I struggle with making the points just how I want it and having both sides even. Use your discretion for length of the wing (some days call for a subtle wing, other days you can go bold).

You can do wings with any kind of eyeliner; I started with gel liner and liquid liner from the dollar store.

If you’re interested in the makeup products on their way to my doorstep, then check out the product list below. I will be reviewing some of these products and creating makeup looks with them soon!

I am so glad that you did this post. I have been trying for years to do winged eyeliner and I can never quite get it. My wings always end up crooked and not straight enough. I think this will definitely help!

That winged eyeliner is a work of art! Your directions seem very detailed and helpful, so I’d love to try this. I’ve never had success with it, but mostly because I only allot between 0 & 5 minutes for makeup in the morning, haha. Looking forward to seeing the next look!
